Opie Peters
May 11, 2007 - February 1, 2022
Opie Peters (May 11, 2007 - February 1, 2022) Opie Peters, formerly of North Main Street in Elizabethton and most recently of East 9th Avenue in Johnson City, passed peacefully at his residence and crossed The Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday, February 1st after a brief illness. Opie was an AKC registered Shih Tzu known as "Opie's River Doe Main," but was in actuality the best little dog who loved his people unconditionally and was loved in return. He was preceded in death by his canine adopted siblings, Molly and Max of the home, and his feline nemesis, Tom. Opie had the type of personality that rivaled that of most people. He had an affinity for treats and table food, particularly bacon. He supervised every meal made in the kitchen of his home. In his younger days, Opie loved strolls in the neighborhood and did not allow his short legs to prevent him from long walks. Opie and Bucky shared the same birthday of May 11th. Two of his favorite places were in Bucky's truck perched on his knee enjoying a drive, or beside him in the recliner watching sports. He was particularly fond of his beloved toy and companion, Maude the Meerkat. Opie is survived by his human dad and best buddy, Bucky Peters, and his mom Rhonda Lacey, his greatest loves, as well as his feline sister Ellie of the home. He is also survived by his human brothers Jordan and Justin Peters. The family would like to thank the staff at Appalachian Animal Hospital in Piney Flats, particularly Dr. Karen Stone, who cared for him throughout his life. An additional thank you is extended to his "aunt" Christy Hopkins, for caring for him at home when his parents were away for vacations or extended periods of time. The family requests that you make a contribution of food or monetary donation to your local animal shelter. Adored Pets Cremations in Elizabethton is in charge of arrangements.
